How does sync work?
Merga syncs through your personal iCloud, using Apple's CloudKit private database. There is no Merga account and nothing to set up — just be signed into iCloud on your devices, and your journal follows you.
Is my journal private?
Yes. Your entries live on your devices and in your private iCloud, which only your Apple Account can access. Nobody else — including the developer — can read them. See the privacy policy for details.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later, and Macs running macOS 14 or later.
How do I get my data out?
Open More → Export, pick a date range — or everything — and Merga creates a ZIP of Markdown files together with your photos and videos.
What happens if I lose my device?
Your journal is safe in your private iCloud. Sign into iCloud on a new device, install Merga, and your entries come back on their own.
Can I lock the app?
Yes. Turn on App Lock in Settings and Merga locks with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode.
Does Merga work offline?
Yes. You can read and write without a connection; changes sync the next time you're online.
