Privacy Policy

The short version
Merga has no servers and no user accounts. It doesn't track you, doesn't show ads, and doesn't collect analytics. Your journal stays in two places: on your devices, and — if you use iCloud — in your private iCloud. Nowhere else.
What Merga stores
Everything you put into Merga — entries and their text, categories, tags, locations, attached photos, videos and audio recordings, and your settings — is stored locally on your device.
If you are signed into iCloud, Merga additionally stores your journal in your private CloudKit database, a part of your iCloud that only your Apple Account can access. Neverstop operates no servers of its own and has no access to any of your data.
What Merga doesn't do
- Merga collects no data about you.
- It contains no third-party SDKs, no analytics, and no crash-tracking services.
- It shows no advertising.
- Nothing is ever sold, shared, or transmitted to anyone.
Permissions
Merga may ask for the following permissions. Each one is optional and used only for its feature; none of them causes any data to leave your device:
- Photos — to suggest and attach photos and videos to your entries.
- Location — to tag entries with the place where they happened.
- Notifications — for the optional daily writing reminder.
- Face ID / Touch ID — to unlock the app when App Lock is enabled.
iCloud sync
Sync is handled entirely by Apple's CloudKit. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest and is subject to Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. Apple may process standard iCloud and App Store telemetry under its own policies — Merga itself adds no tracking of any kind.
You can turn iCloud sync for Merga off at any time in your device's iCloud settings.
Data retention & deletion
Deleting an entry deletes it on all your devices. Deleting the app and its iCloud data removes your journal completely. You can export your journal at any time as a ZIP of Markdown files and media — see the export feature in the app.
Changes & contact
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with an updated date.
